Bachelorette Weekend

My great girlfriends threw me a bachelorette party in Dallas last weekend!
a
Friday night started out with dinner at Cyclone Anaya's with Shellie, Jen and Kiki (and we marked another item off Jen's bucket list before London) then a mini-Gossip Girl marathon.
a
Saturday was spent at the spa which was super great and relaxing. After lunch we headed to the Crescent to *try* to check in to our rooms which weren't ready... we finally made it to the pool in hopes of soaking up some sun. Dinner at Sambuca... interesting is the only word for it. There was a hot mess table next to us with lots of inappropriate grabbing and lots of dancing around the room, a bill twice the price it should have been that took an hour to fix, and a lying manager... at the end of the night I ended up with a free dinner for Mike and I thanks to the determination of Ann! Even though it was a really stressful dinner at the end... the food was great and my new favorite drink just might be their redhead! We were finally able to get out of there, head back to the hotel, have the lingerie shower and end the night at Quarter Bar in my custom made veil by Ann!
a
Sunday we ended the festivities with brunch at Breadwinners... yum! Even though I had a cold all weekend, I had such a great time. I have the best girlfriends! Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves as well.

Strawberry Whoopie Pies

I made whoopie pies for my bachelorette weekend festivities. Mini whoopie pies to be exact. As cute as they were, I'm guessing I used a short-cut recipe. (I started with the short-cut recipe because all of the others I was finding called for shortening. I'm guessing this might be the key ingredient however and will have to break down and use it next time!) I'm not totally satisfied with the recipe and result so I'm not posting the link to the recipe just yet. The filling was great but I am not sure that the cake layers had the right texture.

Here's a picture of the end result strawberry whoopie pie with vanilla marshmallow creme...

Hopefully the next attempt will be made with a recipe straight from this adorable cookbook and look a bit more like the cover picture:

Mini Maple Pancake Muffins

Love Bakerella. So talented. I have no patience for the tiny details she does so well!

These muffins she posted are so simple and yummy. Grab the recipe here. While there, check out the pictures since I totally spaced while baking these and didn't take a single picture to show you guys!

I baked these for Ann and her sister Virginia to snack on while selling their goodies at the Dallas Flea last weekend. Check out both of their Etsy shops!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/mrmrsdarcy (baby slings!)

http://www.etsy.com/shop/theartisann (headbands, bib necklaces and more!)

I think everyone liked them! Especially Virginia's cutey Moses who ended up with some of the chocolate chips on his face. Just makes me want to sell my little creations even more!
